Chanderi

Chanderi
A Rajput stronghold in northern Malwa located about 200 kilometers south of Gwalior that was controlled by the Para-maras at the time of Muhammad Ghauri's invasion (1192). It passed to the control of the Delhi sultanate in the beginning of 14th century. By 1312, Chanderi and Erach together constituted a large iqta'. After the disintegration of the Tughlaq Empire, Chanderi again came to be controlled by the Rajputs. It was annexed to Malwa king-dom in 1515 but was soon occupied by the Lodis, who lost it to Mewar in 1517.
